Learn & Earn: Pittsburgh Youth Summer Camp
PITTSBURGH – Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh and Partner4Work today announced that Communities In Schools, Pittsburgh – Allegheny County (CISPAC) was selected as an approved program provider for 2019 Learn & Earn Summer Youth Employment Program. Now it its fifth year, Learn & Earn annually connects nearly 2,000 youth and young adults, ages 14 through 21 in Allegheny County and Pittsburgh with summer jobs and work-readiness training. The 6-week programs take a variety of shapes but all focus on offering students the opportunity to explore high-demand sectors of work in the Pittsburgh region. CISPAC will offer two programs: Introduction to the Pittsburgh Job Market for rising 9th and 10th graders will explore demand careers, receive academic support, work-readiness training, design and execute a community service project. Path to the Trades for ages 17-21 will offer career exposure, soft skills training, testing support, vocational matching and academic remediation for admittance into an industrial arts pre-apprentice or internship. CISPAC has been a leader in supporting student success for more than 30 years.
