Black History Month Spotlight: Empowering Students Through Art and Inspiration
At Pittsburgh Area Community Schools (PACS), we are committed to creating impactful experiences that empower students. This Black History Month, we were proud to sponsor an unforgettable event at East Allegheny School District, bringing inspiration, creativity, and motivation to students.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Devantae Butler, CEO of RNDRT (Reaching New Dreams Recognizing Talent), and his phenomenal team for sharing their Black History Month Tour with East Allegheny. Devantae captivated students through poetry, videos, music, and motivational speaking, encouraging them to embrace their potential and step into the role of positive leaders. His engaging and dynamic approach left a lasting impact, reminding students of the power of their voices and actions. 🎤💡
The event also featured Jordan Howell, owner of Art by Sweater, who introduced students to the transformative practice of art therapy. Jordan guided students in exploring art as a form of healing and self-expression, providing them with tools to process emotions and channel creativity in meaningful ways. Each school had the opportunity to keep the incredible artwork created by students, ensuring a lasting reminder of their creative expression. 🎨✨
This event exemplifies what PACS stands for—empowering students through education, creativity, and community support. We are honored to have played a role in making this event possible and are grateful to Devantae Butler, the RNDRT team, and Jordan Howell for sharing their time, talents, and wisdom with our students.
Thank you for making a difference in the lives of young people and for bringing such an inspiring Black History Month celebration to our school community!
