East Allegheny Food Connections

It is hard to do much of anything when you’re hungry. Whether you are a child or adult, in school or at work, hunger can sap your focus, drive, and ability to comprehend information.

With 1 in 5 Pittsburgh families living below the poverty line, food insecurity is a common problem throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Region. Over the last few years, with the ongoing fallout from the pandemic, more families are struggling to keep food on their table.

In East Allegheny School District, we discovered a great need for food and basic needs items amongst the community. Partnering with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, CISPAC has been able to help organize both large and small food distribution events in EA School District over the last two years, to offer food, basic needs items and even vaccinations to families in need.

CISPAC is pleased to announce that we have expanded our partnership with the Food Bank in East Allegheny and will now be able to provide 100 boxes of non-perishable food items every month to families in need throughout the district. The boxes will be available for pickup at East Allegheny Junior/Senior High School for any family who is in need. Families will be able to pick up boxes regularly and have a reliable extra source of food to supplement their family’s food budget.
