Last week, Communities In Schools of PA proudly kicked-off Harrisburg Bike Share in Harrisburg’s Strawberry Square.Through the bike sharing organization, Zagster, the Harrisburg Bike Share has provided 55 bicycles at 11 bike stations throughout Harrisburg. The program offers alternative transportation for Harrisburg residents and visitors alike. This initiative was sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and Powered by Communities in Schools. The Dauphin County Commissioners, Harrisburg Young Professionals, Strawberry Square, and the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology also sponsored the program. Profits from Harrisburg Bike Share will go to support Communities In Schools of PA.At the press conference on Thursday, October 5th, Harrisburg Mayor, Eric Papenfuse, gave Harrisburg bicyclists another reason to be excited by announcing the city’s plans to create bicycle boulevards along its streets. Harristown Enterprises president and CEO, Brad Jones, praised the program and announced that his company would buy each of its employees an annual membership. After the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, Papenfuse and Jones, along with our president, Ryan Riley, and other city officials, were able to experience Harrisburg Bike Share firsthand with an inaugural bike ride to Harrisburg’s Capitol complex. To learn more Harrisburg Bike Share, go to http://bike.zagster.com/harrisburg/
