Black History Month Recap: Celebrating Culture and Community Across Our School Districts

We're thrilled to look back on the vibrant and enriching celebrations that marked Black History Month across the school districts we proudly serve. The month was filled with engaging activities and inspiring events. Let's revisit the highlights from Sto-Rox, Duquesne City, and East Allegheny School Districts.

Sto-Rox School District: At Sto-Rox Primary Center and Upper Elementary, students delved into Black history with enthusiasm and creativity. From interactive drumming sessions to hands-on jewelry making, they embraced the opportunity to learn and celebrate. The Black History Month door decorating contest was a hit, showcasing the students' knowledge and artistic talents in vibrant displays of culture and heritage.

Duquesne City School District: In Duquesne City School District, our PACS Site Manager, led the charge in celebrating Black history and culture. Through inspiring projects and a door decorating contest honoring Historically Black Colleges and Universities, students were empowered to explore and express the richness of their heritage. The district's Black History Month celebration was a highlight, uniting the community in a spirit of pride and appreciation.

East Allegheny School District: At East Allegheny School District, PACS hosted a memorable Black History Month Celebration with the district, bringing together esteemed guest speakers and community members. From licensed professional counselor LaBaron W. Stevens to chef Kamahlai Stewart, attendees were treated to enlightening discussions and delicious cuisine. The event was a testament to the diversity and vibrancy of culture and history.

Through engaging activities, inspiring events, and a commitment to inclusivity, we've celebrated culture, fostered community connections, and empowered our students. As we look ahead, let's continue to celebrate diversity and promote understanding year-round. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this month a success!
